The problem with red
carpet inspo is that firstly, sometimes, there’s too much of it about. And
then when we hit the High Street and float about online, and there’s even more
to look at. Then we peer in our own wardrobes and go….meh? Is that it? We are
all about being environmentally friendly
and not buying dresses to just chuck them out after one wear (oh, no, ya
didn’t?) but this is definitely the time of year to treat yourself. It doesn’t
really matter what the occasion is, as every day of the hols is an occasion to Team
Fake Bake.
So, last week, we sat
back and wept, nearly with tears of joy, when we had a look through all the
shots from the Fashion Awards at the British Fashion Council, held at
the Royal Albert Hall. We love British fashion, and we’ve been involved
in show sponsorship at London Fashion Week, so we’ve been front
of house and backstage. While New York is sleek, Milan is glam
and Paris is chic, there’s something about us Brits that’s a bit more
unusual. No one type of designer or brand could be said to be the ultimate British
brand. And even over on foreign shores, they love snapping up Brit
designers to head their couture houses. Like Clare Waight Keller at
Givenchy. But more of her later..
We would just like to
name check Vivienne Westwood, though, who has been around for nearly
half a decade and got recognised for her work on the night. Her new range
collaboration with Burberry? Check. Literally.
We thought we’d run
you through some of our favourite looks and tell you why we adore them, and who
was was who on the night.
Meghan Markle
Oh, did she create
havoc. Apparently, royal Princesses are only supposed to wear nude nail shades
and up rocked the Duchess of Sussex with a dark, sparkly one on her
nails, thereby meaning she’s probably going to get a right, Royal telling off.
Gotta love a renegade gal who breaks rules. We worshipped the one shoulder
velvet, the simplicity of the whole look, the gleamy skin, and the way she
talked about fashion reflecting the wearer’s mood. Meghan also got to
give British Womenswear Designer of the Year Award to her friend, Clare
Waight Keller, who designed her wedding dress earlier this year. Festive
besties at their finest.
For mums-to-be go for the shoulder and highlight your
best bits with Fake Bake Bronzer Instant Tan Lotion
Kendall Jenner
No red carpet would be
complete without one of the world’s highest earning supermodels gracing it, and
Kendall looked metallic and molten. So having so much leg and back on
show is a bit frosty at this time of year but if a Calabasas girl can handle
the cold, then us Brits are well up for a bit of showing off.
Get Kendall’s all-over sculpted look yourself by using
our Fake Bake 3D Face and Body Contouring Kit and add our 3-in-Bronzie Mitt to
make sure you are fully covered!
Victoria and David
Always Couples
Goals to us, and Vic B showed how to do grown up style to
perfection. Now this lady generally doesn't have to hide the fact that she’s
been eating mince pies for breakfast like we do, but this jumpsuit would look
gorgeous on anyone. Victoria sadly didn’t win in her category, but her jumpsuit
had pockets in it, which is a win-win for us every time, plus the fella
pictured held her hand the whole night. What a gent.
To get a classily bronzed look like Victoria’s go for
our Fake Bake Gold Christmas Gift Set, which includes our newly re-launched
Gold self tan, which goes on like a dream and is mega-posh.
When Jourdan Met
Winnie
Our Best Dressed
duo of the night, in a heartbeat. We fell in love with Jourdan a few
years ago when we met her backstage at the BRITs, she came and had a
good girl talk with us, and took her Fake Bake goodie bag off with her.
We love the simple hair, the asymmetric hemline, the shoes that add edge, mixed
with the classic earring. Spectacular. Winnie’s style was a bit more
out-there, but we heart the trimmed edge of this dress, the matching cuffs, and
headpiece. A red carpet rocket in action.
Darker skin tones love our Beyond Bronze Instant Wash
Off Lotion - you get to pick the shade and coverage, to give you heavenly legs
or a delectable collar bone. Or both!
Kaia and Cindy
The whole Gerber
fambo rocked up to cheer Kaia for getting her Model of the Year
Award, and Kaia and her legendary mum showed us how to do mother and
daughter style to perfection. Kaia went for daring and directional, with
Audrey hair, and Cindy went for all-black elegance with, well, Cindy
hair. We definitely want to channel this look when we go out with our mums
this Christmas. Come on, Jean, get your velvet dress out and your rollers in,
would ya?
If you and your mum get asked out last minute then
make it a quick backstage change, a la Kaia and Cindy, with our Fake Bake 60
Minute Gift Set. A tan in hour? Yep, we said it first.
Penelope and Kate
The ultimate power duo
who don't have everything in common, but somehow work. We could mean Penelope
Cruz and Kate Moss but we reckon you and your bestie fit the
description as well. Penelope goes uptown with an updo and classic,
metallic beading and Kate takes her usual rock chic look up a notch in
tailored satin, but still with British hair, as in, a bit undone.
If you want to look like you’ve stepped off a jet to
be anywhere for the night, like Penelope and Kate, our Fake Bake Double Dark
Christmas Gift Set is for you.
Rosie and Ellie
Our absolute Best
Beauty looks of the night, by far. Rosie H-W kept it flawless as
always with dewy skin and neutral tones and we are loving the new, simple, sleek,
centre-parted straight hair. Ellie went for a similar vibe - we’ve
tanned Ms. Goulding so many times and we always keep an eye out for her
on the red carpet. She went for a similar beauty look, and it means we can have
a break from the tongs for a bit, too. Oh, the joy.
(Note to
selves/Santa’s elves - need new straighteners…..)
To get a glow under your make-up apply our Fake Bake
The Face the night before your big night, to face the paps - just like Rosie
and Ellie get shot to perfection.
We hope that you all
have a fabulous Christmas, from everyone here at Team Fake Bake, Don’t
forget you’ve still got time to order your last minute prezzies at www.fakebake.co.uk and remember to tag us everywhere on your
socials if you get your Fake Bake spot on. Oh, and you know that end
part at the office party where you feel a bit undignified, but you get up on
the karaoke and you literally have a list of people you’d like to un-thank for
getting on your nerves all year, but you still want to do it in style?
Yes, that…….
