FAKE BAKE goes Best Dressed, Brit style, just in time for Christmas…..

The problem with red carpet inspo is that firstly, sometimes, there’s too much of it about. And then when we hit the High Street and float about online, and there’s even more to look at. Then we peer in our own wardrobes and go….meh? Is that it? We are all about being  environmentally friendly and not buying dresses to just chuck them out after one wear (oh, no, ya didn’t?) but this is definitely the time of year to treat yourself. It doesn’t really matter what the occasion is, as every day of the hols is an occasion to Team Fake Bake.

So, last week, we sat back and wept, nearly with tears of joy, when we had a look through all the shots from the Fashion Awards at the British Fashion Council, held at the Royal Albert Hall. We love British fashion, and we’ve been involved in show sponsorship at London Fashion Week, so we’ve been front of house and backstage. While New York is sleek, Milan is glam and Paris is chic, there’s something about us Brits that’s a bit more unusual. No one type of designer or brand could be said to be the ultimate British brand. And even over on foreign shores, they love snapping up Brit designers to head their couture houses. Like Clare Waight Keller at Givenchy. But more of her later..

We would just like to name check Vivienne Westwood, though, who has been around for nearly half a decade and got recognised for her work on the night. Her new range collaboration with Burberry? Check. Literally.

We thought we’d run you through some of our favourite looks and tell you why we adore them, and who was was who on the night.

Meghan Markle

Oh, did she create havoc. Apparently, royal Princesses are only supposed to wear nude nail shades and up rocked the Duchess of Sussex with a dark, sparkly one on her nails, thereby meaning she’s probably going to get a right, Royal telling off. Gotta love a renegade gal who breaks rules. We worshipped the one shoulder velvet, the simplicity of the whole look, the gleamy skin, and the way she talked about fashion reflecting the wearer’s mood. Meghan also got to give British Womenswear Designer of the Year Award to her friend, Clare Waight Keller, who designed her wedding dress earlier this year. Festive besties at their finest.

For mums-to-be go for the shoulder and highlight your best bits with Fake Bake Bronzer Instant Tan Lotion

Kendall Jenner

No red carpet would be complete without one of the world’s highest earning supermodels gracing it, and Kendall looked metallic and molten. So having so much leg and back on show is a bit frosty at this time of year but if a Calabasas girl can handle the cold, then us Brits are well up for a bit of showing off.

Get Kendall’s all-over sculpted look yourself by using our Fake Bake 3D Face and Body Contouring Kit and add our 3-in-Bronzie Mitt to make sure you are fully covered!

Victoria and David

Always Couples Goals to us, and Vic B showed how to do grown up style to perfection. Now this lady generally doesn't have to hide the fact that she’s been eating mince pies for breakfast like we do, but this jumpsuit would look gorgeous on anyone. Victoria sadly didn’t win in her category, but her jumpsuit had pockets in it, which is a win-win for us every time, plus the fella pictured held her hand the whole night. What a gent.

To get a classily bronzed look like Victoria’s go for our Fake Bake Gold Christmas Gift Set, which includes our newly re-launched Gold self tan, which goes on like a dream and is mega-posh.

When Jourdan Met Winnie

Our Best Dressed duo of the night, in a heartbeat. We fell in love with Jourdan a few years ago when we met her backstage at the BRITs, she came and had a good girl talk with us, and took her Fake Bake goodie bag off with her. We love the simple hair, the asymmetric hemline, the shoes that add edge, mixed with the classic earring. Spectacular. Winnie’s style was a bit more out-there, but we heart the trimmed edge of this dress, the matching cuffs, and headpiece. A red carpet rocket in action.

Darker skin tones love our Beyond Bronze Instant Wash Off Lotion - you get to pick the shade and coverage, to give you heavenly legs or a delectable collar bone. Or both!

Kaia and Cindy

The whole Gerber fambo rocked up to cheer Kaia for getting her Model of the Year Award, and Kaia and her legendary mum showed us how to do mother and daughter style to perfection. Kaia went for daring and directional, with Audrey hair, and Cindy went for all-black elegance with, well, Cindy hair. We definitely want to channel this look when we go out with our mums this Christmas. Come on, Jean, get your velvet dress out and your rollers in, would ya?

If you and your mum get asked out last minute then make it a quick backstage change, a la Kaia and Cindy, with our Fake Bake 60 Minute Gift Set. A tan in hour? Yep, we said it first.

Penelope and Kate

The ultimate power duo who don't have everything in common, but somehow work. We could mean Penelope Cruz and Kate Moss but we reckon you and your bestie fit the description as well. Penelope goes uptown with an updo and classic, metallic beading and Kate takes her usual rock chic look up a notch in tailored satin, but still with British hair, as in, a bit undone.

If you want to look like you’ve stepped off a jet to be anywhere for the night, like Penelope and Kate, our Fake Bake Double Dark Christmas Gift Set is for you.

Rosie and Ellie

Our absolute Best Beauty looks of the night, by far. Rosie H-W kept it flawless as always with dewy skin and neutral tones and we are loving the new, simple, sleek, centre-parted straight hair. Ellie went for a similar vibe - we’ve tanned Ms. Goulding so many times and we always keep an eye out for her on the red carpet. She went for a similar beauty look, and it means we can have a break from the tongs for a bit, too. Oh, the joy.
(Note to selves/Santa’s elves - need new straighteners…..)

To get a glow under your make-up apply our Fake Bake The Face the night before your big night, to face the paps - just like Rosie and Ellie get shot to perfection.

We hope that you all have a fabulous Christmas, from everyone here at Team Fake Bake, Don’t forget you’ve still got time to order your last minute prezzies at www.fakebake.co.uk and remember to tag us everywhere on your socials if you get your Fake Bake spot on. Oh, and you know that end part at the office party where you feel a bit undignified, but you get up on the karaoke and you literally have a list of people you’d like to un-thank for getting on your nerves all year, but you still want to do it in style?

Yes, that…….

FAKE BAKE talks Netflix and Chanel - a festive sit-down with a bit of Spring/Summer inspo….

If you wouldn’t like to wake up, in your wildest dreams, to a Christmas tree like this, then you are probably reading the wrong Blog. If so, it was lovely to meet you. If it’s your idea of festive heaven, read on….

We obviously all love a bit of Netflix. Netflix and Chill actually means watching the TV while it’s cold, snuggled up in our fave PJ’s with our best Fake Bake self tan developing nicely underneath. We also love a good fashion based film, and we recently adored the McQueen documentary about the late, great Alexander McQueen. We enjoyed The First Monday In May, about the infamous New York Met Gala. So when we heard the man behind that particular film had taken to the house of Chanel to go BTS of its Spring/Summer couture show, we had to have little sit down. Andrew Rossi, we salute you!

The film itself is called 7 Days Out, and spends a week at the world’s most famous Paris couture house, filmed at the Grand Palais, and also gives no-holds-barred access to Karl Lagerfeld at work at the Chanel Atelier, which first opened in 1910, under the beautifully observant eye of Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel. So what is it about this label that still has us in its thrall, over a century after Coco set to work?

The documentary is all about the genius of Karl, who came to the house in the early 1980’s and revitalised it. He took all of the signature Chanel styles and trademarks, including monochrome and those interlocking C’s, and added a touch of street style to make the brand totally modern. In a decade where decadence was key, Chanel became the label to be seen in. Young, upwardly mobile professional girl bosses suddenly wanted to be head-to-toe in Chanel.

When the supermodels came along, Karl took a more subtle approach than his rival over at Versace, but the girls still absolutely rocked the look. Karl was known for travelling around major cities and nightclubs all over the world, and sketching inspiration from what he saw.

Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista became famous for their duo Chanel campaigns. And no matter what the current trend, a golden glow was always the extra accessory. If Coco invented the tan, then Karl kept it in the spotlight.

While Versace made the supermodels colourful, Chanel captured them in traditional monochrome mixed with biker chic, photographed by Peter Lindbergh. Would we wear these looks today? Hell, yeah!

Karl created a legendary campaign in 1991 based around beachwear, and from surfboards to cycling shorts, either dressy or casual, he created something so special that it became the inspiration for his recent beach inspired collections.

If you are an Insta fan, you will have definitely spotted influencers in these bikinis, as once worn by supers Cindy C and Claudia Schiffer.

Over the years, Karl has embraced every type of media, model and celebrity, and often photographs the Chanel ad campaigns himself. Now in his ninth decade, he shows no sign of slowing down and yet he takes the whole process home, designing in the rooms that Coco once lived in. She would watch her shows from atop the famous Chanel staircase, which is the ultimate fashion spot for any style star. Just ask Victoria B.

On the red carpet, Chanel only dresses the best, and created one of Jennifer Lopez’s first Oscar looks, which set the tone for the her future style status. Golden glow to add. Check?

In fact, whether it’s in print or on the catwalk, the Chanel girl is all about the golden gleam, although we know that as models look after their skin now, the only thing faux on the Chanel Runway are the tans…

Everyone who is anyone has been in an ad campaign for Karl, including Kate Moss and Gisele, and this season Karl chose Penelope Cruz to advertise Chanel Cruise. Keeping his finger on the pulse, Karl has aimed at being more diverse, and so regularly features women of varying backgrounds and age ranges.

Of course, if your bank balance is all about the zeros then you can clad yourself in Chanel whenever you fancy. For the rest of us, we all still want the ultimate arm candy: the Chanel 2.55. And looking forward to next season Karl wants to take us back to the beach, sure la plage, and be inspired by that early 90’s beach chic he created, whether its casual a la Kaia Gerber, or something a little more structured for the ultimate occasion look.

This year, we are hoping to get the new, limited edition Red Chanel No. 5 under our trees, and a bag, of course, would be even better, topped off with one of our own Fake Bake gift sets, and we are going Double Dark in honour of Coco and Karl, to create the perfect Red and Gold Christmas.

Until then we will have to be patient as the film launches just before the Big Day, so we are getting our supplies in and dreaming of a Lottery win at the same time. And you know that thing about summer bodies being made in winter? Well, we agree. We are going to look exactly like Cindy C next summer in our double C bikinis. If Cindy inhales mince pies for brekkie that is. Come on, surely she does?

FAKE BAKE on this season’s Jungle Belles, perfect gifts and why we’re wild about ‘Arry…..

Have you actually been out of the house after 9pm for the last fortnight? Really? Why, though? Summer seems like so long ago it could feature on the History Channel. But as we hit December in our stride we are sitting back and watching the annual joyous festival that is I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! What began as a bit of a sleeper hit in the early 2000’s is now the start of Christmas for us.

We love watching celebs in that natural habitat, with no phones, no straighteners and no chance of a filter. Yep, within days, we get to see them as they really are. Over the years, we have had a really great relationships with so many Jungle Janes in including Kerry Katona, Katie Price and more recently Ferne McCann, Gemma Collins, Vicky Pattison, Scarlett Moffatt and last year’s winner, Toff. When they come out of the outback, they are glad to head straight to our tanning tents. Because the last thing the contestants get in there is an actual tan. What they really get are bites, frights and sleepless nights.

Team Fake Bake are this year, yet again, obsessed. These are our favourite, water cooler moments so far…..

  1. The Girls just in general. Is it just us, or would you be happy to have the girls turn up en masse to join you on a night out? Rita is fearless, Fleur is sharply funny and can knock out a tune, Emily is ace at impressions, Sair is the girl who’d keep us in check and Ann might not get up to dance but she’s certainly remember how to get us all home. Plus, if we went to a pub quiz we would walk away with it. Obvs.
  2. Noel and his Scroll - you don't  know who he is? Come on, the guy is a legend. But this time he’s  really shown us what a gentleman is. And also that, at 69, you can still have a six pack and have a laugh.
  3. Emily Growing Up - we have absolutely fallen in love with Ms. Atack. She has talked about all of the issues we all face, from worrying about her appearance, her hair, her life in general and finding out that she is a actually brilliantly funny and doesn’t need a glass of Prosecco to shine. She might have a few when she comes home, but by revealing the real her, she’s realised just what a superstar she is. Oh, and she’s just gorgeous to boot.
  4. The wonder that is Harry - from his Jam Roly Poly to his wondrous life lessons, there’s nothing we don’t love about one of football’s favourite managers. But, of course, what we’ve all really fallen for is his love for Sandra, his Mrs. We heart his adoration.
  5. Is it Holly and Dec, or Dec and Holly? We love that both words are a bit festive, and at first we wondered how these two would pair up. We miss Ant. You can never manufacture a friendship between two old mates, but we love that Holly has stepped out of daytime telly mode and into something a bit sharper. Oh, and the outfits. How does she do it? How come everyone else has got bitten thighs and hers are just wonderfully golden? How does that happen?

So if we could air drop in some treats for our best Jungle Faves, what we send, and who to?

A little bit of Rita in the sun….

Rita is just a bundle of energy, never stops moving, and loves a great tan so we’d definitely send her in our 60 Minute Christmas Gift Set. Our 60 Minute Self Tan, you’ve guessed it, develops in 60 minutes so is great for busy gals, and it also includes two gorgeous Scream and Pout lip glosses and our Lip Inflate, as Rita does definitely love to get lippy.

A Gold Star for Emily who we all want as our BFF

Emily has quite a fair complexion so we’d keep it subtle and classy with our Christmas Gold Gift Set. Our Fake Bake Gold Self Tan would give her a gorgeous glow, our Sunrise Lip Gloss would set off her companion to perfection. Add our Lemon Meringue Body Whip, which we’re sure she’d love after having three baths and ten showers in the Versace Resort at the end of the show.

Some Brights Fleur with the Widest Smile

This year’s X Factor has just finished, and we’ve enjoyed it, but how super talented is former finalist Fleur? Is it right that anyone looks that good with no make-up? Well, life’s not always fair, and not only is she beautiful but also positive and a real girl’s girl. We’d send in our brightest, finest as we know on the red carpet that Fleur goes all out with colour pops, with our Glitterbomb Gift Set. It contains a gorge Lip Palette, Eye Palette, and a trio of Nail Polishes and Eye Liners. Perfect for a girl to get Uptown Funky at the After Party.

The Best Match for Sair with the Perfect Skin

A few weeks into jungle life and even the most groomed beauties start to feel a little bit frazzled. Some try and manage it, and others just go for it. But Sair has amazed us by always sporting a perfectly casual messy bun, and she just has skin to die for, whilst being super brave and energetic. So we’d send in our Dolce Dreams Gift Set packed with our fave body treats to make sure she smells delish and have softly polished and smooth skin at all times. Because even though she looks great we bet she can’t wait to soak in a real tub.

Some Gradual for the Guv’nor, Harry

We are not sure that Harry is a huge self tan fan, but we reckon if we’d like to sign anyone as the new face, and body, of Fake Bake Sport, then when not the nation’s new favourite dad and granddad? Easy to apply, it builds up gradually for a nice subtle glow that’s still proper manly, if that’s what is required. Plus, we’d obviously send an extra bottle for Jamie. If we need to explain why then we can’t be mates.

It’s not long left in the jungle, now. People will start to get voted off, Holly may or may not have a bad hair day, and tempers might start to fray along with everyone’s roots. But, there really is nothing better on a cold pre-Crimbo night than getting your 60 Minute Tan on, getting your onesie on and having a little snack festival that doesn’t involve rice, beans, or the gonads of some Outback beast.

Pass the Pringles. Team Fake Bake are all about living your best life whilst watching a load of celebs looking at a telephone box waiting for the phone to ring, so that they can possible win some cheese and crackers.

And if anyone tells you that you need to get out more, give them a swerve. You really don’t need that kind of negativity in your life.
