Dancing On Ice 2018
Get the look with Fake Bake and James Harknett
I was absolutely thrilled when I
got the call to advise me that I would be tanning the contestants on Dancing On
Ice. I was informed by the production team that they wanted warm natural tans,
not the typical dark tanned look that ballroom calls for which I was thrilled
about.
Last Saturday was my first week
tanning everyone and was great getting to know them all. I mainly used Fake
Bakes Original professional spray tan formula however there were some of the
contestants that required a deeper colour, and for those people I used Fake
Bake Flawless Darker professional spray tan formula.
An important part of my role is
also to ensure that contestants know how to maintain their tan. They have an
extremely busy schedule and I need to make sure their skin looks glowing week
after week. For me preparation is key, therefore we have provided everyone with
Fake Bakes new Coconut Body Polish and Moisturiser. The polish removes uneven
dead skin, remnants of oils, body lotion and perspiration that can hinder the
activation of a tan. As a professional spray tanner that tans over 50 people a
week, prep is essential to achieve an even golden colour.
The beauty of using market leader Fake
Bake for the celebs and skaters is that the colour works with the individuals
skin tone, for some celebs like Brooke Vincent from Coronation Street and
Stephanie Waring from Hollyoaks I used my layering method to build the colour
on the décolletage and arms.
It was crucial I asked them what
they were wearing and how much skin was on display, so I could map the tan and
decide where would be beneficial for an extra depth of colour.
Now it’s not just the girls who
are loving their weekly spray tans. Love Islands Kem and X Factors Jake are
feeling the Fake Bake glow. Kem is already a fan of Flawless but was new to the
spray tan! What he loved is the instant finish the spray tan gave him. He
commented on how seamless the instant result was, whereas he expected it to
look dirty and feel sticky. Great British Bake off champion Candice Brown
and presenter Donna Air opted for more of a winter glow as their fairer
complexions suit a sun-kissed from the slopes look. Just one gentle coat of Fake
Bake Original was needed for these gorgeous girls.

the Dancing On Ice tan at home with Fake Bake
Dark
Fake Bake Flawless is my go-to product
if you want to look like you have already spent a week in the sunshine. The
tinted guide colour allows you to stay on top of your tanning application, just
a quick easy glaze over the skin allows for easy and even absorbing. My top tip
for this look is always use a pea sized drop of moisturiser on the dryer, less
fleshy parts of the body including; ankles, wrists and hands. For a more
dramatic sheen to the chest like Brooke and Stephanie re-apply on day 2. Keep
the skin supple and glowing with Fake Bakes new Coconut Oil Free Moisturiser,
it locks down your colour and prevents a crumbling break down of the tan.
Medium
Fake Bake Fair is perfect for
achieving a sun-kissed look. It contains a butterscotch guide colour so that
you can see where you have applied it. Just one coat creates a perfect base for
make-up. To get Donna and Candice’s healthy colour just use your bronzer to
take the shade darker on the face and collar bone. Think of where the sun would
hit! The forehead, nose and cheeks, use a circular motion to apply onto these
areas. Opt for a matte bronzer, not a shimmer as this can exaggerate fine
lines.
For the
Boys
Fake Bake Airbrush is a favourite
with our male customers. Hold the can approx 30 cm away from the skin, the
subtle mist graces the skin with ease for an instant pop of colour. The gents
love using this for its simplicity, the immediate effect and how it’s doesn’t
cling to stubble, beards and brows. It’s also a great top up for the face,
where tan is known for fading before the body, contributed by cleansing,
shaving etc. My top tip is use a beard brush over stubble and beards after
application.
