Oh, Caroline. When nature was handing out
perfect pins, you were at the front of queue, along with sharp intelligence, a
fierce sense of humour, luscious locks and a penchant for being mischievous.
Perfect mate material right there, in our eyes. So this week Ms. Flack has been in the news as she
gets herself ready for the launch of Love
Island, and our Eloise, The Tan
Expert, was on hand to help turn those legs into super-tanned stunners. She
did a fine job.
Last week,
we talked about our favourite covetable
accessories, and so this week for more realistic feels, we searched the High Street for gorgeous pieces we
might be able to buy without having to sell our cars, or kidneys, first. Never
before has there been so much choice, and it’s now perfectly acceptable on any
fashion front to go high-low, and mix your loved labels with your
much-less-expensive finds.
These are
our favourites, after much debating here at
Team Fake Bake. We actually call this work. Work. Great, isn’t it?
The Ultimate Quilt - the Kurt Geiger
Raffia LG Kensington Bag
This isn’t
exactly cheap and cheerful, but it is GORGEOUS. The Kensington range has been a huge hit and if you are a 2.55 fan and
want a luxury me-too, then this is it. The scarf adds a touch of summer, and
the bag will literally go with everything. Stick this on your wish-list.
The J-Lo Dupe - the Carvela Lopez in
Gold
If you
spotted Jennifer Lopez at the Met Gala this
week, then the Versace dress and
headress stole the show, but her look also reminded us of why sometimes
platforms add height and glamour. It is surely no coincidence that these molten
lovelies are called Lopez. We’re not
sure how far we could walk in them, but we’d love the opportunity to try.
The everywhere watch - the Whitney
Tri-Tone by Michael Kors
MK is back on the watch graft and this is the answer to
all of our style prayers. The three tones in rose, gold and chrome means you
can wear this timepiece anywhere and it also looks delicious on a tanned or
darker skin toned wrist. Michael,
welcome back. We have missed you.
The super chic flat - the Braided
Slide by Uterque
Uterque is the more upscale sister brand to Zara, and is so beautiful. We are in
love with these sliders as they are a bit more dressy than a rubberised one,
and if you’re budget isn’t quite H-level, these are still a classy affair.
The feline eye wonder - Black Cat Eye
Sunglasses by Marc Jacobs/TK Maxx
Come on, we
had to throw in a label somewhere and TX
Maxx is the absolute business when it comes to accessory shopping. You have
to have a good browse to come up with the goods, but these are spot-on 2019 and
are ready for a bit of island action. Love, or otherwise!
The tropical bargain buy - Printed
turban style headband at Zara
Ditch that
coffee and spend your spare change on this little beauty. Not only are the
colourways gorge, this little wonder covers a multitude of hair probs and is
standard issue for bringing a touch of Hollywood poolside.
The bright beauty - Neon Orange Mini
Cross Body Bag by River Island
This is on
sale right now so it is an absolute steal. RI
are great with bags, and this is just the style ticket for holidays and
festivals.
The right-now hair piece - Silver
Diamante Clips Four Clips by Pretty Little Thing
These clips
are so this minute that there is no point spending a small fortune on them, and PLT are just the best at bringing
affordability right to your door. Style with a tropical tan, a red lip, and the
cocktail of your choice. You can’t sit down or not pose in these. It’s
impossible.
The dotty glam heel - the Zara Polka
Dot High Heel Sandals
So when we
were talking about legs, and then tanned
legs, and then Caroline, and saw
these shoes we thought - bingo! Perfect for drawing attention to pins.
Honestly, have you ever seen a prettier heel? No, we haven’t and we spent all
of last week looking at shoes, too. Zara,
you kill us every time. Every. Single. Time.
We always love
working with Caroline so of course
we were going to send our Elite Tanner,
Eloise, to tan Ms. Flack as she is so experienced and a perfectionist when
it comes to all things tanning. Our very own Tan Expert has been working with us for over a decade now so we
thought we’d get her to choose her own edit to get us this level of fabulous.
“Legs tend to be really dry after the
winter so it’s time to really get rid of scaly patches and sad shins! Our Fake Bake Coconut Body Polish is so
gentle so I recommend using it often, so that the skin on your legs is
super-soft. For Caroline, I went for
quite a dark look so I’d go for our Fake Bake Double Espresso Self Tan as
its formulation is so easy to apply and blend and this is so important with
legs as we want to avoid streaky ankles and missed bits! I always recommend
using an oil free product to keep skin hydrated so our Fake Bake Oil Free Moisturiser used daily helps to keep your tan
looking fresh. And finally, add some Beyond
Bronze Instant Wash Off Shimmer Lotion in the shade of your choice to
emulate Caroline’s super-sheeny look!”
The weather
is still at bit shocking right now, but we are feeling so many warmer vibes
right now that we cannot wait to get our toes out and down to business. As for Love Island, rumour has it that it
starts the first Monday in June, but we will keep you posted.
Strap
yourselves in, people. The fun is about to start….
