FAKE BAKE celebrates all things Jodie Comer as Villanelle returns with killer looks...

It’s hard to think back to when Jodie Comer was kind of seen as the second best actress in Doctor Foster. Now, as we await for the return of Killing Eve to BBC1 next month, the best Scouse-born screen assassin in history has written her own place in time. Recently awarded a BAFTA for her performance on the show, looking super-tall and even more chic than ever in Stella McCartney, she probably wouldn’t like to be called a role model, but a role model she most certainly has become for young women everywhere. And when she goes home she rocks up to stay with her mum and dad in her usual bedroom. Our kinda gal.

Ten years ago, it’s unlikely Killing Eve would have ever been made. But now, thanks to the wit of Phoebe Waller-Bridge and a stellar cast also including Sandra Oh and Fiona Shaw, it’s a storyline filled with intrigue, an odd sense of romance and a few blood chilling moments. And, of course, the first season also made Jodie Comer into a real star, and Villanelle’s wardrobe created our favourite TV visual of the year, with that pink Molly Goddard dress.

But what about Season 2? Well, Jodie is working with the same amazing stylist: Elizabeth Saltzman. Together, they have put together a wardrobe that is chosen to reflect the way Villanelle shops, so there are designer names, vintage finds and and online arrivals. Whether it’s Armani, Louis Vuitton or Hermes, our fave hitwoman has expensive tastes but she does have a well paid job…..

This season is already showing in the US, so we have been trying to avoid spoilers, but we have definitely been catching up on some of the stills and images that have been released to showcase Villanelle’s wardrobe and this one is, hands down, the best of a very stylish bunch.

The shirt, by Rosie Assoulin, has already been a bestseller in America. The pink Kafka ballgown skirt is by William Vintage and those huge, doorknocker earrings are vintage Christian Lacroix. In real life, as well as on screen, Jodie herself often sports her own, gorgeous, translucent skin but she’s not against rocking a golden glow, and we absolutely adore this look below. So, the question we often get is this - how do I adjust my make-up when I’ve used a self tan? (We are assuming Ms. Comer is not a huge sunworshipper, not with a face that is now worth millions of dollars!)

First up whether you get a pro Fake Bake tan, or use one of our specialist self tans at home, let it do it’s magic before you load products on top. You don’t want them to interfere with your finished tanning look and ruin your hard work. If you are in a rush, though, you can use our Fake Bake 60 Minutes Tan, shower off after an hour, and get to work with your brushes.

Secondly, your skin should be looking fabulous so go easy with the foundation. And remember to dial your shade up a little to avoid a chalk-like disaster.

Thirdly, if you find it hard to use bright blushers when you are pale, you can certainly go to town with them now, and highlighters will really show up when you are going golden.

Last of all, step away from neutrals and go for a bright lip. Reds and oranges look gorgeous against freshly tanned skin, whether you for a statement matte or something more glossy and fresh. Getting spot on make-up to work with your tan has come such a long way in a few short years. And with new, light formulations like our Fake Bake Tanning Water around for summer, you can have the best of both beauty worlds without your skin feeling heavy. Sorted.

Next week, we’ll be catching up with our fave MUA Stacey Toner who will be giving her top pro tips after her last hugely successful Masterclass. We can’t wait...

Roll on June. And as Villanelle sits looking out over Amsterdam, all dressed in pink, writing a love letter to Eve, a young girl who is admiring her outfit asks can she take her pic to post to her Insta. Our assassin says that she can’t and replies….

“Don’t be pathetic. Go get a real life.”

Wise words indeed. So close this down, and get out there and live a little. Put a ballgown skirt on to do it though, would ya?
