FAKE BAKE celebrates our fave golden achievers of 2019…

To say we have had a busy year here at Team Fake Bake is an understatement. As well as celebrating new product launches (hello Fake Bake Tanning Water) and collaborating with some of our favourite brands, we have been travelling and working at prestigious events and with the best, best people. It’s been quite a year, hasn’t it? It seems like ages since we were obsessing over Love Island. Luckily, ITV have realised we feel the winter blues in January and have an extra series lined up to bring us a bit of sunshine just when we need it most.

So we thought would finish the year with our final Blog celebrating some of the fantastic faces we have worked with. Some are members of our Fake Bake family, some are new to us, but all have been an absolute pleasure to be around. Here goes…

Vicky Pattison has served up the perfect year

We are so proud of Vicky. After her Geordie Shore journey, and jungle victory, Vicky has really grown up before our eyes. This year, she has really opened up about her feelings on life, and the struggles we all face at times with body image and anxiety. Watching her speak with confidence to a crowd of young women is really inspiring. Her Celebrity Masterchef appearance, where she made it right to the finals, topped a magical year for our favourite lass.

Jess Wright is all about the career switch

We have been working with Jess for several years now. After leaving TOWIE, Jess forged a career in brand building, and this year has made huge waves with her brilliant and hugely popular podcast, Girls No Filter, which you can catch up with on Apple.

Jake Jamie is our perfect beauty boy

Jake Jamie is so much more than an influencer. He’s one of the best beauty professionals in the business, and he writes about his journeys around the industry with intelligence and authority. We had a great time with him this year, and when it comes to being in-the-know, Jake Jamie is the guy. Huda and and Mona Kattan? Jake Jamie is at home with beauty’s shining stars.

Helen Flanagan is all about business
We absolutely miss Helen tottering on the cobbles in Weatherfield, and we would always be glad to hear about the return of Rosie Webster. But as a young mum, Helen has been keeping herself busy with the launch of her online business, Delilah Ruby.

Kelly Brook is the queen of red carpet glam

What can we say about Kelly Brook? From supermodel campaigns to Hollywood movies, this homegrown star has grown up in front of our eyes. Down-to-earth and gorgeous in every way, she celebrates those curves. Elegant and authentic, Kelly has just turned 40 and is as gorgeous as the day we first spied her on the Big Breakfast.

Laura Anderson is the busiest Islander we know

Laura took the platform provided by Love Island and run with every opportunity. Laura is an absolute sweetheart to work with, and during 2019 has absolutely smashed building brands: from LA Lox London, to So LA Fitness, and her BBC podcast, our lovely Laura deserves all of the success this year has delivered.

Malin Anderson triumphs in 2019

Malin is a girl who wears her heart on her sleeve, and we love her for it. A leading mental health advocate, Malin is also an Ambassador for Sands charity, a cause which she cherishes. Malin is someone we have so enjoyed collaborating this year, and we hope that 2020 brings her all she wishes for.

Ashley Louise James has an unretouched year

Ashley is a young woman who keeps it real. She has been talking about body confidence again this year, and we often see her popping up on our TV screens with her best body message: it’s all about celebrating the body you’ve been gifted with. An accomplished DJ and brand creator, we look forward to seeing what she gets up to next year.

Saffron Barker makes it a Strictly year

As one of the youngest stars of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, Saffron has shown the beauty and energy behind her success as a YouTube winner and influencer. We have loved having Saffron join us on our Fake Bake travels this year, and she absolutely wowed every Saturday night with the fabulous AJ.

Georgia Kousoulou put her best face forward this year

We’ve had a great time working with the TOWIE gang again in 2019, and we have been cheering Georgia as she has presented her #keepingthegramreal campaign. From body shaming to skin issues, Georgia has been encouraging everyone on the show, and us too, to strip off the make-up and be exactly who we are. An accomplished businesswoman in her own right, Georgia has made a positive impact this year.

Charlotte Dawsy has been glam and laughter goals

Charlotte already has comedy built right into her DNA. The absolute queen of showing what Insta reality is all about, Charlotte has been building her TV career this year and her appearance with her gorgeous mum on the relaunched MTV Cribs has had us saying chippeh all year round.

Josie Gibson is queen of our Fake Bake fam

We have to finish with our Josie as we are simply so proud of her. She was the Big Brother winner who stole our hearts, and has created her very own type of career, and as mum to Reggie James, she is someone so many of us relate to. Our fave travel buddy, we have loved her spots on This Morning, too! We wish her love and light for the coming year.

We want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who enjoys being a Fake Bake customer or client this year, and also everyone who either works with us, or for us. Your contribution is much valued.

Here at Team Fake Bake we are ending the year right where we started: back on ice! We are so proud to be back working on Dancing On Ice. The Christmas special is going to be spectacular, and the new season is groundbreaking, too.

See you on the other side everyone.

Wishing everyone a fabulous Christmas and we hope 2019 is your best year yet, from everyone at Fake Bake

FAKE BAKE on a style tip at the British Fashion Awards

Here at Team Fake Bake, we got super excited when we received some calls asking us to help some stylish names get ready for the British Fashion Awards at London’s Royal Albert Hall. And it certainly included the great and the good from every style generation. Giorgio Armani, now 84, was there to accept his Lifetime Achievement Award, accompanied by Julia Roberts and Cate Blanchett, no less.

Aside the huge names like Donatella Versace and Christopher Kane, who won the Designers’ Designer Award, up-and-coming  Daniel Lee, who last year took over at Bottega Veneta, won four awards. Music is never far from fashion and Janet Jackson rubbed shoulders with local rapper Little Simz, as every table rocked and no doubt compiled their own Best Dressed lists.

Who topped ours?

Jourdan Dunn has always been a favourite at Team Fake Bake and once more she ruled the red carpet…

Elsa Hosk took a brave stance and we are completely in awe of her angelic golden tan…

Our stateside style sister Olivia Culpo looked elegant in Ralph and Russo

Adut Akech took home the Model of the Year Award, and shows us why in Valentino

Naomi Campbell received a Lifetime Award and her status as Style Icon shines through in Alexander McQueen

Amber Valetta showed us how to do timeless chic in Stella McCartney

Our favourite hair and beauty look has to go to Julia Roberts, who showed how to rock an Armani jumpsuit in Hollywood style. Soft waves, a coral lip, a subtle glow and turquoise earrings? Go on then…

As always, our Fake Bake tanners were on hand to get their own stylish gang ready and this year outshone other teams by proving a Fake Bake pro tan literally looks good on everyone.

Our Global Creative Consultant James Harknett worked his magic on Sarah Jossel, Beauty Director at the Sunday Times Style magazine - our fave #BeautyBoss

And also on David Gandy, fashion legend and Best Dressed Man at the Awards. In our humble opinions…

Our amazing The Tan Expert, Eloise, created this gorgeous tanning look on super-blogger Danielle Vanier

And Nadine Sereaton created this bespoke tanning look on model Alice Amelia Jeffrey, who caught the lens of every photographer on the carpet…

We caught up with Nadine to ask her about the event and why it is always a good idea to opt for a professional Fake Bake spray tan when the occasion is this special. Nadine told us:

“Helping get Alice Ameila ready for this event was so exciting. I work with her on a regular basis and she is an absolute sweetheart. Her career is really, really taking off and so it was wonderful the next day to catch all of her red carpet shots alongside the very best names in the fashion industry.

Why go for a Fake Bake professional tan? I really pride myself in terms of the work I do so that every client who comes to me for a pro tan gets the same level of service. At the moment I am tanning people for all sorts of occasions from day to evening events, and a pro tan takes some of the work out of your beauty prep.

Even the most seasoned tanners enjoy a professional tan as we aim to create a perfect, flawless finish whilst opting for a shade that really suits your skin tone. There is no need to worry about streaking or patchiness if you are a tanning newbie, and it really does save time. The results are long lasting, too, which my clients really appreciate when they have more than one event or party to attend.

Finally, I have noticed that a Fake Bake pro tan really lifts the spirits of each of my clients: during these colder, winter days, a seamless tan really gives you confidence and makes dressing for an occasion a real pleasure. For me, it is lovely to be a part of that experience.”

We are pretty certain no-one here on the team will make it to the British Fashion Awards as a nominee any time soon, but we are definitely upping our style game for the office party.

It doesn’t matter where you go in the world, at the end of the night you always end up like Naomi and Adut.

Isn’t that what Christmas is all about? Love, actually....

FAKE BAKE goes to Hollywood: photo shoots, The American Influencer Awards and an audience with Kim KW…

We are a generous lot here at Team Fake Bake. And whilst we are working away during this busy festive run-up, we have to say, that when we spied our fabulous Victoria Halliday on Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, we can’t say that we didn’t want to get on a plane and join her. But if you think she was there to shop, then you don’t know our Victoria. As our Head of Business Development and Global Celebrity & Influencer Outreach, she was there to represent the brand and keep our global conversation going. During a packed schedule she managed to fit in so much that we needed a sit down when we were loading up our Fake Bake Insta Stories.

So we caught up with Victoria to ask her more about her Beverly Hills adventure, networking, our latest photo shoot, working with the fabulous Ladonna Sheridan and Fake Bake USA, and a whole host of amazing brands, events and influencers.

We needed coffee. And plenty of it……

Victoria, first of all, what was it like being in Los Angeles again?

It was a whirlwind but I loved it! I met up with our Global Creative Consultant, James Harknett, for the first couple of days there. Based at the W Hotel Los Angeles, we met up with some up-and-coming names to get the Fake Bake name out there. James and I also found time to fit in a tour of LA - you have to, don’t you? I have to say, it was fabulous looking at the Regent Beverly Wilshire and all of the sights. But then - it was back to work!

Ladonna Sheridan flew out to meet you from the USA team - what’s all this about being Fake Bake Twins?

Ladonna travelled out with her family, and it was so lovely to see a familiar face, as we worked together at the Stateside Beautycon earlier on in the year. She’s an absolute joy to work with, and she raises my spirits and energy. Plus, she is getting so good at the Scottish accent, that one of the drivers we met gave us the Fake Bake twins tag!

As we are a family brand by nature, it was lovely to meet Ladonna’s own family, and then it was straight on with the next task, our exclusive photo shoot at the amazing Elyx House in the Hollywood Hills. It is absolutely breathtaking and once we had got over the beauty of the view, it was all about the prep!

So much work goes on BTS to get the models and the location ready. I am noticing how much this is changing as time moves on - gone are the days of using models who all fit the typical ‘model’ type. Now, we use such a variety of talented people - and I love that Fake Bake as a brand continues to embrace diversity.

Absolut Elyx were so supportive of our work during our time there, as were Spectrum Collections. We teamed up with Spectrum to launch our exclusive Christmas Gift Set and we are so impressed with this youthful superbrand - the Spectrum team made sure we were stocked up not just with their legendary brushes but also their super-popular cosmetics - Ladonna and I both got to try them, too, and they really are gorgeous!

We can’t wait to reveal the results of the shoot….

You also got to fit some exclusive events in - please tell us more…

As a brand, Fake Bake always likes getting out there and mixing it up. It’s the best way to find out what’s going on in the world and genuinely touching base with other creatives. Social media is brilliant, but face-to-face events still really matter to us. We were a sponsor of the American Influencer Awards this year and so we decided to throw a pre-party, again at the Elyx House, to really connect with established friends of the brand - and a few new ones, too!

Elyx House has a really opulent feel, and the Awards were going to be about full-on glamour, so again, we made sure everything was picture perfect for our guests. Ladonna and I are lucky in that we had a supportive team to help us out. It was such a great success and I am so proud of how well the brand is being received.

The American Influencer Awards - KKW and Tyra Banks all in one evening? Not that we are jealous…

We really understand the power of influencers, and here at Team Fake Bake we love supporting new names in the industry. But, of course, we couldn’t wait to see Kim and Tyra in real life. The Awards took place in Hollywood’s infamous Dolby Theatre, which has a real sense of tinseltown old-school movie glamour about it. As a result, the Awards show didn’t disappoint: Fake Bake were a main sponsor, too, so it was really exciting to be a part of. Tyra Banks, through her shows and her work, is all about encouraging new talent. We all waited in anticipation for Kim, though.

As the world’s original influencer she didn’t disappoint, as she gave an award to her beloved MUA, Mario, to recognise his contribution to the industry. His work is the artistry that others in his field really follow and get inspired by.

Did you manage to fit in any down time?

A trip to Disneyland - there is nothing more traditionally Hollywood, is there? It was a real treat for me and as Ladonna and her family accompanied me, it was a really fun occasion, as watching young children as they see their favourite Disney characters in action is just priceless. For Ladonna and I, it was a chance to make fresh memories. She does a wonderful job with Fake Bake USA and she’s such an industrious team member - I’d be lost without her when I go Stateside.

You’ve had quite a year - what’s next?

It certainly has been a busy time but that’s great news for me as it’s all about brand building - which you can only do with the best products and the most brilliant people. Fake Bake has got to collaborate with some amazing brands, too. We do love developing a vibe with like-minded people, and as a brand, we take our products seriously but we like people who love Fake Bake to have a good time.

As for 2020 let’s just say I’ll keep you posted. There are lots of exciting plans ahead, and I can’t wait to be a part of them.”

We are not sure how our Victoria does it, but she takes her positive attitude in life with her wherever she goes and, as a team, she’s the person we all turn to when we need help and advice. We know that she managed to grab a coffee on Rodeo Drive before she flew home, and we hope she enjoyed her Julia Roberts moment in style. (No Richard Gere required in 2019, people!)

Every single one of us has this on their festive list this year, and if our Victoria goes back to Beverly Hills next year, can the person typing this be the one to help carry the bags, though?

Go on Victoria, because if you don’t, you know what you’ll hear.

Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now…..

A huge thank you to Ladonna Sheridan and Fake Bake USA for their eternally warm welcome
