First of
all, everyone at Team Fake Bake wishes
you a Happy 2020! We hope you’ll
stick with us for another decade. It’s not long until we will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary - any excuse to
party, obvs! While we are sitting here still regretting the mince pie
consumption of late 2019 and taking in the new series of Love Island (seriously, it’s a cruel twist showing us all that
South African sun in January), we decided to escape in our minds by checking
out the first red carpet of the year, at The
Golden Globes.
Of course,
we also tune into every single step of awards seasons to check out the red
carpet looks. Now that TV is seriously rivalling film, it means that you get
double the glamour quotient. So we are starting off 2020 by giving a style
shout out to those killing it on the
carpet.
Jennifer Aniston in Dior Haute
Couture
Have you
seen The Morning Show? We are loving
it, and it’s great to see everyone’s favourite Jen back on the screen, after breaking Instagram last year. Jennifer sticks to a tried-and-tested look
that simply works. She’s still a beachy LA kinda girl at heart, so even in
couture she loves undone hair and that golden
glow says more surfing than serious fashion. A winning style formula, every
time.
Scarlett Johansson in Vera Wang
Breathtaking
in The Marriage Story, Hollywood’s
2020 classic beauty kept it simple, structural and stylish. We love the
combination of that lightly golden skin
finish, set off by Bulgari jewels.
Jody Comer in Mary Katrantzou
Our Villanelle is back and went for a hint
of 1980’s with a totally contemporary edge. We heart her colourful accessories,
too. A modern beauty who is going to shine for many more seasons, and those
sculpted cheeks are a hit.
Margot Robbie in Chanel Couture
Picking up
nominations and awards is now a regular night out for Ms. Robbie, and she gives that Chanel
a casual hint, which we love. Un-sleek hair, golden shoulders and pockets
are things we are taking on our next night out.
Zoey Deutch in Fendi
Another
Netflix star, this time for The
Politician, this new standout star stole stylish hearts by wearing yellow
and making it a jumpsuit instead of a dress. Continuing the trend for the lightest touch of glow on the carpet, Zoey
also gave the bell sleeve a 2020 seal of approval. One to watch.
Dame Helen Mirren in Dior Couture
Literally,
the queen of everything. Need we say more?
Brad Pitt
Does this
guy really need an introduction? Plus he beat off some serious competition this
time around, but totally deserved his award for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, and also for being totally sweet
about our fave Jen when asked about her on the red carpet. A classic tan, a classic tux: don’t mess
with perfection.
Priyanka Chopra
Our
absolutely standout hair and beauty look of the night, Priyanka proved why she’s tinseltown’s most glamorous winner.
Talented, understated and a class act: plus, a reminder of why a berry lip can match any diamond.
Winnie Harlow
Winnie went for classic Hollywood waves but
a more contemporary eye: we love her sense of individual chic. Dark, dark navy
brings edge to all of that glitter.
So, we are
currently weighing up all the trends we have seen so far, and colour really seems to be the way
forward, with unfussy designs and curve-skimming folding. Hair can be totally sleek or a little more messed-up,
and over-baked make-up is a thing of the past. It’s all about being more individual, and we’d like to
say it’s about time. It’s that weird time for us out here in the real fashion
world, as the sales are over, it’s still chilly, and it’s going to be a while
before we get out of our PJ’s. But having a new season to look forward to
always keeps us inspired.
In the
meantime, Team Fake Bake are busy
working on Dancing On Ice, which we’ll be keeping you in the loop about,
and some of us will be glued to Love
Island pretending it is a Really
Important Part Of Our Work. We are starting off this new decade reflecting
on how much has changed since the last one began, and that as a brand we will
continue to change, and evolve, by always listening to what you have to stay.
Keep your
opinions real, your heads held high, and your tans flawless and faux.
Buckle up.
We don’t think it’s always great to look back but if this could happen again,
we’d be very happy.
Everyone
loves a Friends rerun, after all…
