One thing
about the dawning of social media is that it has enabled us all to document our
lives on screen. For most of us, we get to take the pics, add the words, edit
and then post. Sometimes we look back and delete. Imagine what it is like
having that whole process play out before everyone else? Back in the day, when Fake Bake got the call about
sponsoring the first season of a new show, Geordie
Shore, we went for it. Little did we know what it had in store for everyone
involved.
Now, nearly
a decade later, the show has made some of its cast huge stars. We have worked
with many of them but there is one we can truly call a friend, and that’s the fabulous Vicky Pattison. In real
life, she’s exactly who you would want in your corner: fun, open, candid and brilliantly
funny. She’s also honest. Her life on screen has been quite a journey, and one
we have all related to, and now as an accomplished young woman she’s grown up
and become an accomplished TV star in her own right.
One thing
that wasn’t really highlighted when Vicky’s career kicked off is that she is a
Uni graduate: she has a degree in Drama
from Liverpool John Moores University. Vicky actually only appeared on
Geordie Shore for three years, and has used that as a springboard for
everything she has achieved since.
We thought
we’d tell you why we love her. Here’s our lowdown…
She’s brutally honest about body
issues and confidence
Like lots of
reality stars, Vicky launched her own
fitness DVD in 2013 and we looked on as she literally shrank before our
eyes. In recent years, though, Vicky has moved away from what the mirror says
as being important. She takes a sensible approach to health and fitness and
most importantly, is learning to be happy with who she is. And as we have met
her so many times, we can report - she’s absolutely gorgeous!
She is open about mental health
We all have
our down days. We have all been through break ups and difficult times. Imagine
if the world was watching while all of that was happening? Vicky has talked
about the challenges of growing up on
screen and how it has taken time and work to get to a really settled place. Vicky has talked about suffering from
anxiety and credits exercise and support from family and friends for helping
her through it.
She is fearless in the face of trolls
We have all
had the odd bitchy comment online. Imagine if the comments multiplied, and came
from people who don’t know you? Vicky is
a big fan of having digital detoxes, and moving away from replying to negative
or hurtful comments. She’s really
supported the #BeKind movement, and we applaud her for it.
She loves style, and it’s one we
relate to
Put your
hands up if you are impeccably put-together every day? Nope, we are not either.
Vicky absolutely rocks it on the red carpet and at events, but behind the
scenes, she’s just like us. And she doesn’t mind having her pic taken being a
real girl, just like the rest of us.
She changed before our eyes on I’m A
Celeb
We can’t
believe it’s nearly five years since our
Vicky became our fave Jungle Jane. She went into the camp known to younger
audience members. She won everyone’s hearts, and showed that she’s fearless,
gutsy and strong.
She put the heat into the Celebrity
Masterchef kitchen
Vicky went right to the final and this time
showed her more vulnerable side. After a difficult time in her life, Vicky put on her chef’s whites and set
to work, and her confidence grew with each episode.Vicky started off as an absolute novice, and ended up a real
winner. We cheered her on, as we knew how much it meant to her.
She’s keeping us going during
lockdown
We have
really enjoyed getting to know Vicky and
her fabulous Ercan. They’ve been keeping our spirits up with their work
together and our gorgeous lass has been making us howl with laughter: her chart-smashing podcast, The Secret To
Surviving The Lows of Lockdown, is just what it says on the tin. We really
loved her chats with Jamie and Sophie
from Made In Chelsea - it’s about time our reality gangs mixed it up. Vicky has also been chatting to our Dancing
On Ice fave Matt Evers - expect a riot!
She absolutely rocks a Fake Bake tan
Those early Geordie Shore days were all about
full-on out-on-the-Toon glam, but in 2020 Vicky is all about a super-groomed
look when she’s got something planned. And Ercan
is her true partner-in-crime as he’s game for a go in our Fake Bake pro tan tents.
2020 has started off in a way none of us
had predicted. Vicky started it with
a new role on Ant & Dec’s Saturday
Night Takeaway, which is a jewel in the crown when it comes to Saturday
night telly. But we know as soon as the show returns, so will our Vicky.
And finally,
in her own words, “Kindness is the mark
we leave on the world…”
Here at Team Fake Bake we still like to think
we are keeping your spirits up so don’t forget our Quarantan offers…

enjoying some better moments with our loved ones, in the sun.
With good
hair, at a table in the open air, wearing something that doesn’t have an
elasticated waistband.
Talking of
hair, has anyone cut their own yet? We are all lusting after fringes.
Unfortunately, none of them have turned out quite as planned...
