The days of one beauty
ideal ruling our media is well and truly over. You no longer have to categorise
yourself in a box. And even when you look in the mirror, you can change up your
look whenever you want to suit your mood. Beauty in 2018 is a fun, democratic
process. At least, it is here at Team Fake Bake. Back in the day, the
tan was hard earned on a holiday and showed off when you returned. And if you
were a pale beauty, then there was very little you could do. Then when the
first wave of self tans arrived you could at least get a glow. The problem for
a pale beauty was that they tended to work best on more olive skins. So your
only choice was pale, or orange. That was before Fake Bake. Now, you
have a choice.
Pale skin is something
to be proud of and if you want to wear it that way, all year round, then that’s
a personal choice and a brilliant one. But we know from talking to you that
sometimes you want to just dial up your skin tone a little. You don’t want to
go full scale mahogany, but especially during the summer, or on holiday, you
like to just add a bit of warmth.
Doing so by sitting in
the sun is an absolute no-no. Take Dr. Alex. See, we don’t even have to
explain. This guy is a trained doctor. We are putting on our best Ian Stirling
voice as we say it. Has it stopped him sitting in the sun and frying? No. Has
he gone any darker as the weeks have passed? No. All that has occurred is that
he just gets pinker and pinker. So if someone with all of that medical training
is risking his skin to get a tan he’s never going to get, we needed to remind
him there is an alternative.
And we thought we’d
give you a gentle nudge as well. Ever since we launched our Save Your Skin campaign
a decade ago we still keep getting the message out about safe tanning, but for
pale beauties we can’t tell you how important it is. Your skin has less
melanin, so trying to get it to come the surface of your skin by sitting in the
skin doesn’t work.
So what does? Well, of
course, we have the answer. But first we wanted to check out some pale skinned
beauties who get the look just right and inspire us to do the same.

Bake training teams are absolute experts in getting the look right….
Fake Bake Fair is the ultimate in colour that you can
build and layer. It has our famous colour guide, but is less intense than our
superstar Original. We know from talking to you that a lot of you find
gradual tans barely make a difference. We designed Fair so that it
starts off with a subtle, overall glow that you can use each night until you
get to the shade that you want, that suits your skin tone. Our blended range of
tanning agents means there is not a hint of orange, and Fair works with
your own skin tone to get the ultimate in natural results. No patches and no
streaks, guaranteed. Fair skinned babes who are concerned about the drying
effects of self tanning can rest easy. Fair is packed full of
moisturising agents to keep your skin soft and smooth all summer long. It
smells gorgeous and fades evenly, ready for when you want to re-apply.
So there you have it,
the perfect solution to getting a little golden without the sun, so that
gorgeous skin of yours stays that way. When it comes to skin, pink is not
pretty but for all of you pale skin beauties, celebrate who you are and get
ready to get your shorts on and your pins out. And as for the orange approach
tanning, we’ll leave it to Moschino and Kaia Gerber.
